DLD Lawyers was recently made aware of fraudulent employment solicitations being made by unaffiliated entities claiming to work for DLD Lawyers using popular job search and freelancing websites such as LinkedIn and UpWork. As soon as we became aware of the postings, we reported them immediately to the appropriate organizations and they were taken down.

Unfortunately, employment scams are far too common because it is easy to perpetrate them using online media. Scammers use familiar-looking website domains and copyrighted materials, such as logos taken from company websites, in order to make their solicitations appear legitimate with the goal of stealing sensitive personal information. Given a rising incidence of employment scams following the coronavirus pandemic, the El Paso division of FBI posted an article last year detailing ways in which people can protect themselves as well as how to report these kinds of scams to appropriate authorities. The article can be found here: https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/elpaso/news/press-releases/fbi-warns-cyber-criminals-are-using-fake-job-listings-to-target-applicants-personally-identifiable-information.
